How many miles can you run in 8 hours?  We've got a super flat (a departure from most Steep Endurance courses) trail route for you to run on with the backdrop of the Housatonic River Brewing Company in New Milford, CT for your friends to hang out and watch you run all day.  There's even a 4 hour option for those of you that don't want to miss lunch and a nice cold beer early in the afternoon.  It's a win-win for everyone!  HRB has an amazing and perfect location to hold an event like this.  You will not be disappointed!

Refund Policy: There will no refunds and/or no transfers of your registration or bib to any other person. Entry fees collected are used to develop and produce the event, starting well in advance of the race date--including course preparation, race supplies, permits, and administration.

Location/Directions/Parking

Race headquarters and start/finish will be located at the Housatonic River Brewing Company, 30 Kent Rd., New Milford, CT.  

Course Map

The route is a 1 mile loop going counterclockwise using the field area behind the brewery as well as the trails in Native Meadows Preserve.  The course is a very flat mostly grassy/dirt trail.  There are no hills to speak of.

  • 7:00 a.m.  Packet Pickup
  • 8:00 a.m.  8 hour/4 hour start
  • 12:00 p.m. 4 hour finish
  • 4:00 p.m. 8 hour finish

Runner Rules

These rules are meant to make your experience during any Steep Endurance event a positive one. Most of these are common sense type policies that you will see at any road race.

  • Be aware of general hazards on the course (roots, rocks, potholes, cars, etc.)
  • Staying on Course: Following the marked course is MANDATORY.  Part of the course is on trails and part of the course is on the road.  The course will be well marked with flags and signage.
  • Dropping from the Race:  If runners intend to drop out of the race, they must do so (unless in case of emergency) by notifying one of the course marshals at various locations on the course.  Failure to do so means for all intensive purposes that the runner is lost, activating search and rescue. Time that is spent searching for a runner will be billed to such runner.
  • Runners will be advised that the Race Director or course marshals may pull any runner from the race at any time for gross negligence of the above rules.
  • Absolutely No Littering! The race is on Town of New Milford property and Housatonic River Brewing Company private property.  Please respect that we are using it or the race.  Failure to do so could jeopardize future events.
  • Race entries/bib numbers are not transferable--hence NO unofficial runners
  • The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, Steep Endurance encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of the 8 Hours at the Brewery We believe your race experience and those around you will be greatly enhanced by leaving the headphones at home or in the car. Running headphone-free allows opportunities to develop camaraderie with your fellow runners and to enjoy everything the race has to offer. Plus, volunteers and spectators will be on course cheering you on and providing directions to help get you to the finish line. Runner safety is a a top priority for our events.
  • SMILE and enjoy the race!  You get to have BEER when you finish!

Awards

All runners will receive a "beer themed" finisher award with the top 3 male/female podium finishers receiving additional prizes from our sponsors.

Post Race Celebration

You’ve just finished an epic run at the brewery.  Enjoy your accomplishment, sit back, relax, and enjoy one of HRB's hand crafted beers.
All runners 21 and over will receive ONE FREE ticket for a choice of one of HRB's hand crafted beers.  That beer will certainly taste good after a long effort on the course!

November in Connecticut yields really good running weather, though it could be on the cool side in the mornings.
